Get to know Rosco
To celebrate Rosco’s NFT drop this coming September 24, the World team took the chance to introduce Rosco more to the World community.
1. Can you tell us a little more about yourself, the ups and downs you’ve faced, and how you overcame them as an artist?
I grew up in Romania in the country side pretty much my whole life, there I started getting the first interests for art as a child, just by drawing, I loved to do just mindlessly do it, I even drew comics at some point. But I never thought I would make a career out of it when I first opened Photoshop in 2014. First thing I had to face was that old computer I worked on, but that was all I got and I made the most out of it, I was patience and grateful for even that cuz it paid out eventually.
Despite everything that was going in my life, I kept making art, mostly digital edits, and it got me through everything as it was the only thing that never changed.
My life took a turn, for the better, when I decided I didn’t wanna go to university, so I quit on year in, because I wanted to be an artist full time, I wanted this to be my career because I knew I could make a living out of it if I was dedicated enough to it. My parents weren’t happy about it at first so they didn’t found out until months later, when I could show them proof my decision was good.
And so was it, 6 years later after I first opened Photoshop with no intention of pursuing it full time, I was able to buy my first high-end laptop, one year prior I started paying my rent all by myself and I didn’t relay on my parents anymore.
Doing art is hard, nobody will deny that, it’s hard giving your soul each time you create, it’s hard being creative all the time as we all want it.
But what I learned over 7 years of doing this, is that consistency will get you through everything, don’t give up, I know it’s easier said than done, but if you wanna be an artist, make it your plan A and only plan, to create.
2. Tell us more about your design process when you create your works
My process is sometimes messy in the beginning as when I don’t have a clear idea in my mind I keep trying different stocks to see what works or blends together the best.
My big advantage is that 90% of the times I use my own stocks for subjects or other objects in my artworks, this gives me more freedom and also originality on what I can create.
A typical edit takes me around 12 hours to complete, span over a week mostly.
I could get it faster if was fully focused without procrastinating that much but I love this process even so haha
3. Where do you get inspiration that keeps you driven as an artist everyday?
I get inspiration from a lot of sources, basically I let myself be inspired by everything I see or hear, it could be my daily life, nature, people on the street, anime and movies and sometimes even music. I built up a huge library of things in my head that fuels my imagination every time I need it.
Don’t overthink too much about how inspiration gets to you, just let your mind wander and take you there, that’s your best ride.
4. What’s the most expensive NFT you’ve sold?
My most expensive one was sold on Foundation for the price of 0.888 ETH (~1400 dollars at that time I think) to @bluebirdnft and I will be forever grateful for that, as cheesy as this sounds, that moment really changed my life forever.
5. What do you hope to achieve in the NFT space?
I want my artworks to make people wander, I want to make people take a second look, to let them be interpreted in different feelings, others from the ones I originally had when creating my artworks. So I want my art to be seen by lots of people, and the NFT space opens a total new door for that, where my art could find a safe space to be cherished, understood and finally collected.
6. What’s next for Rosco?
Well you didn’t hear this from me, but I have Blender sitting on my desktop already, waiting for me to start my 3D journey.
So the next for me is to improve myself, to be a better artist and human, because this life is a journey of learning that never ends and I accepted that since I was a daydreamer little kid.
Make sure to keep your eyes peeled for his NFT drop this September 24, 2021 #ProudWorldCitizens
